This photo was taken on my camera-phone, while I was sorting non-GFP drosophila larvae under a UV light Microscope...

Nice pics. To be perfectly honest though, I'm not quite sure what I'm looking at ... but then again, entymology isn't really my area of expertise. I guess I could use some tutoring...
PS: Why do I never find you online on the MSN anymore???
Hm, green...things!They look yiammie! :) I would just make a wild guess and say these little green things are the larvae!Isn't UV light blue???

@ natascha : the green things you see in the photos are larvae (or worms) of drosophila flies, that have been modified to carry a Green Fluorescence Protein gene, which make them glow green under the Ultra Violet light of the microscope used!
I am not an expert on entomology, but I 've been working with flies for the last 4 years... but only because the Drosophila fly is a great model organism which help us understand human genetics...
I dont hung around my pc as much as I would like ...!

Thanks for clearing this up for me. I should have called you when I was in high school ... seriously ... maybe then I would have understood what my biology teacher was trying to say when he was explaining the basics of genetics.
