I would like to start my 2007 posts on a natural theme...

Cool pics ... I particularly like the close-up of the dragonfly ... it has a lovely color.

Anyway, I gotta hurry now ... I have an appointment with my supervisor and I'm late.

xxx

PS: Sorry to bug you again ... I was just wondering if you are ever going to reply to your e-mails??? You aren't getting lazy, are you???

Περιμένω και τα δικά μου να ανθίσουν. Άραγε με αυτές τις θερμοκρασίες που έκανε φέτος θα ανοίξουν οι τουλίπες μου;;;

Snow is only fun for children and the tourism industry in the Alps. People in half of Europe have no electricity, people were snowed in their cars last night, and car accidents have caused fatalities. Snow genreally causes more trouble than it brings pleasure.

Well that is your opinion and I respect that.
I dont like the fact that snow causes people to suffer either and I dont enjoy watching the News with all this crap that have been going on.

But, with the same reasoning Sun is fun only for children and the tourism industry -generally speaking- in the whole world. It can cause deaths, cancer, drought, fires, etc etc...
Rain can cause terrible accidents too. Every coin has two sides.

My point is, and what I was trying to say is that snowing makes me (I am a child apparently) happy. I love seeing snowflakes covering everything. Its just a feeling that noone has the right to take it from me no matter what.

I'm not going to take sides here ... but here's my little take on snow:

Everything in life has its positive and its negative aspects. Whether something is a good or a bad thing for you always depends on how it effects your own personal life. It really is just a matter of how you look at it. And snow is no exception to that rule.

When you get a chance to take a walk outside and enjoy the snow-covered landscape, then snow certainly is a very nice thing ... BUT when you have to spend the night in your car because you were snowed in, then it pretty much sucks. And when you're freezing your butt off in your house because the heating doesn't work because there's no electricity, then this sucks too. And I think everyone who has already had the pleasure of driving with a car when the roads are all icy or covered with snow will agree with me that driving and snow don't exactly match very well.

To sum things up, I basically like all seasons and any kind of weather, because after all life is simply too short to worry about the things that we have absolutely no control over. However, when people are hurt or, even worse, lose their lives as a direct result of rain or snow or storms (or any other natural disaster for that matter), then I can't see anything good about that.

Nicely put there N.

Thing is though, when we discribe a feeling we just describe a feeling, and not the F A C T S that may be attached to it.

I have thousands of weather related articles that show how weather conditions can destroy a place, cause death to people etc. ; but those have nothing to do with how I describe a certain moment of a certain weather condition.

When we sunbathe in summer do we even think what some people might going through because of the heat? NO I don't reckon we do. Because its just a nice moment. Just a feeling.

I do agree with you that people usually don't think about how something that feels good to themselves affects others. But I think you can't really blame people for this. After all, we are all human, and as such we are programmed by nature to look after our own personal good.

But whether you love snow or hate it, both are feelings that everyone is entitled to have.
